Great read. Saunderson had a cool show on NTS recently talking through his formative tracks and the eras that shaped him. I don’t have a deep knowledge of Detroit techno so absolutely lapped it up.
Kevin Saunderson is the best and was essentially my gateway to techno and electronic music as a whole - I LOVED Inner City's first album as a kid, and still listen to it (along with the just as classic remixed version) a fair bit today. His 'Faces & Phases' comp and the E-Dancer 'Heavenly' album were essential pieces of the puzzle a decade or so later too, and both remain almost unequalled. Thanks, Ben!
What a fantastic read, thank you for this! I really love the UK rave connections you mapped out here, I had no idea! Cheers Ben
thanks Emma! Really glad you liked it.

thank you! A friend of mine had Faces & Phases and we used to listen to it A LOT.
Such a sick comp!
I had a funny feeling when listening to his scuba podcast that he is like the "Forrest Gump" of techno he literally saw everything.
Oh I must dig this out.

I mean, I would take one of them!
muchas gracias!
