The French Touch vibes were so strong back in the 90s that Englishman Stuart Price posed as Jacques Lu Cont/Les Rhythms Digitales in order to mock/capitalize on the French sounds fixation.
Until he started producing for Madonna & others, and I learned otherwise, I’d always assumed Jacques Lu Cont was French & part of the French Touch scene you described.
Maybe it’s just me, but perhaps he’s a part of the family tree somehow?

I'm similar. It always feels like there is something very French about his music. And he was certainly very popular in France back then.
