I heard Ricardo Villalobos drop the DD remix of Hideaway once. Right in the middle of a floppy percussive minimal wonk set. Blew the place apart! Great track played at the exact right time. Perfect!
Bit late to comment but enjoyed reading this. Interesting to learn of dubfires industrial and rock influences. I liked a lot of deep dish stuff in the 90s although I wasn’t big on vocal stuff so some of their work didn’t hit me (hideaway remix is undeniable though). Loved some of the more minimal stuff on their label, and their dj mixes, particularly the first ‘yoshiesque’ are great.
Thank you for more nostalgic gold! Call me basic, I don’t care, but shoutout forever for Deep Dish remix of Brother Brown’s “Under the Water” which teleports me straight back to adolescence:

oooh that must have been wonderful!
It was! Ricardo has a knack of playing the unexpected at the exact time tho innit.
