Broadcast is one of those bands I love whenever I hear them, but I feel like I really don't know them all that well. I often think I need to take a week or two and listen to nothing but their back catalog, really immerse myself in them.

I know we were talking about this offline but in case anyone else is interested and might read this, I always advise starting off with the three official albums, in sequence: The Noise Made by People; Haha Sound (my favourite by a nostril); and Tender Buttons.

The Noise.... is probably the most accessible; HHS is a psychedelic masterpiece; TB is more minimal and electronic. Each has its own distinct sound.

If that works then you can fill in the gaps with Work and Non Work and The Future Crayon, which are compilations of B sides, EP tracks etc. (And each totally superb but not as coherent.)

After that, I'd go for Mother is the Milky Way, a SUPERB tour only EP recently reissued by Warp and the two Mictrotronics EPs (ditto).

Then Spell Blanket, the first demo album, which shows where they were maybe going on their fourth album.

Then Distant Call, the second demo album, which is not quite as revelatory but has two of their last songs in Come Back To Me and Please Call To Book.

After that,Broadcast and the Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age, a joint album with The Focus Group, is more mood-y and has less songs. (Although the Be Colony is fantastic.)

Then Berberian Sound Studio, which is a soundtrack and acts as such.

Then Black Sessions, an unofficial live album.

Then Maida Vale Sessions. A load of radio sessions.

And you're Broadcast-ed!

There's also a Two lone Swordsmen remix of Come on Let's Go, which I don't really rate, and a few more demos and live things floating around if you want to be completist.
